10.21. - The winners of the 1st International Schimmel Piano Competition have been announced!

4 young pianists from 10 nations had qualified for the final rounds of the 1st International Schimmel Piano Competition, from 17 to 19 September 2022 in Braunschweig, after intensive pre-selection.

The 5-member jury with Prof. Wolfgang Zill (jury chairman), Prof. Markus Becker, Prof. Yuka Imamine, Prof. Tim Ovens and Prof. Milana Chernyavska did not have an easy time deciding who would enter the final round after the impressive competition performances of the participants. In addition to the pianistic-artistic performance, the submitted concept of the presented programme had to be evaluated, which had to follow a theme freely chosen by the participants.

7 pianists convinced the jury and entered the final. They performed again on the final day, with a concert that was now just under 50 minutes long. In the end, the winners were determined:

The 1st prize, (a CD production incl. publication and digital distribution or production of a music video) was won by Raimu Satoh (Japan).

06.21. - The Piano Competition will take place in September 2021!

We are pleased to announce that the International Schimmel Piano Competition will take place in September 2021!

All applications from 2020 have been carried over and the winners of the preliminary round have already been informed. It is no longer possible to apply for the 2021 Piano Competition.

The competition will take place from 17. - 19. September 2021 at the Braunschweig location.

05.21. - The preliminary round has been completed.

The results of the preliminary round have been determined and communicated to all participants.

09.20 - The piano competition will be postponed to 2021!

Due to the current entry and quarantine regulations, it is unfortunately currently not possible to hold a public competition with international participants in September 2020. Some participants from abroad would have to go into quarantine, which would mean an unfair disadvantage to them. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the competition to 17. - 19. September 2021 according to the current situation regarding the Corona pandemic.

All applicants who applied in 2020 will still be eligible, just the competition will be postponed.
